Devastation-
Rebel Streets CD review
I didn’t now street punk still
existed- it seemed to explode in the mid-2000s, and now it has all but died off
almost entirely. One band has kept the
faith, however; Devastation, a group out of southern California’s suburbs. This music is an 80s hardcore/ street punk
hybrid playing punk as I have always seen it- honest, optimistic (sometimes too
much so), raw, and of the more undesirable social creatures that litter the
world, albeit necessarily. Some songs
stand out a little more than others, but for the most part, this record doesn’t
have a “hit” or “signature” song. The
music’s fun, worth the listen; it’s different kids doing the same thing bands
in the 80s were, with a few cultural changes.
Nothing wrong with that.
